Platforms Africa reports that Abdul-Rasheed was crushed to death by a speeding commercial driver in the Obadore area of Alimosho LGA, Lagos State, while attempting to cross the road on Saturday afternoon at about 4 p.m.
An Eye-witness told Platforms Africa that some police officers were allegedly attempting to collect a tip from the commercial driver, which led to him driving recklessly and hitting the student.
Azeezat, the witness said, was still alive when some students rushed her to Alimosho General Hospital.

On arrival at the hospital, she was asked to present a card to access treatment, but she could not provide one, the eyewitness stated, adding; “on the process of obtaining a card and completing the necessary documentation, she passed away.”
Platforms Africa gathered that the incident triggered outrage among students, many of whom alleged that police authorities were trying to cover up the circumstances surrounding the incident after the driver was taken into custody.
Some students of the institution staged a protest at the Area M Police Station in Idimu, demanding justice for the victim and transparency in the handling of the case.
One of the students, identified as Aluko Kehinde, shared a video on X showing students and members of the LASU Students Union (LASUSU) protesting outside the Area M police station on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has issued an official statement denying allegations that it is attempting to compromise or obstruct the investigation.
Reacting to Kehinde’s video, the Command, via spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi, said, “The Command is aware of the incident, which is a fatal motor accident. Following the report, the DPO Igando promptly visited the scene. The corpse has been deposited at the mortuary, while the driver involved is in Police custody. The vehicle has also been impounded for further investigation. The case has since been transferred to the Area Command.
“The Command assures the public that all necessary legal actions will be taken in accordance with the law. Members of the public are advised to remain calm.”
