The Oyo State Government has ordered the closure of the popular Shasha market located in Ojoo area of Ibadan, following the pandemonium which broke on Friday and led to the death of a trader allegedly hit with charms by a man suspected to be an Hausa,

The government in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Oyo State Governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, explained that the closure of the market came from Governor Seyi Makinde to forestall breakdown of law and order in the area,

The ststement added that in effect, the curfew  has also been imposed between  6 p.m. to 7 a.m, with a call on residents of the affected area to go about their legitimate businesses peacefully, declaring that that anyone caught perpetrating violence  or turning devil ears to the order will face the wrath of the law.

“His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde has directed the immediate closure of Shasha market indefinitely following reports of a breach of peace in the area. The governor has also approved the imposition of curfew on Shasha. It will run from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Residents of the affected area are enjoined to go about their legitimate businesses within the hours stipulated by the law, anyone caught disrupting the peace of the community will be made to face the wrath of the law”, the statement said
