Gbajabiamila Empowers 5,000 With N1.15b In Surulere, Denies PFIPC Allegations

Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, on Saturday empowered about 5,000 residents of Surulere under his Mega Empowerment Programme in Lagos.

The package included N1.15bn cash support, 279 vehicles including mini-buses, electric cars and tricycles, as well as laptops, buses and an ambulance.

According to him, 3,905 beneficiaries received N250,000 each, while 348 got N500,000 each, with 61 receiving electric vehicles and 40 mini-buses.

Speaking on the allegations linking him to the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Gbajabiamila said he had been cleared by the Police, DSS and ICPC, and by the House Ad-Hoc Committee which found no evidence of his involvement.

He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for insisting on due process and his constituents for standing by him during the trial.

“Stories were written, strange accusations were made, lies were told and my integrity was questioned. At the end of investigations, I was cleared of any wrongdoing,” he said, warning that no amount of blackmail will distract him from his duties.

Lagos Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, who represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and state APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, commended the empowerment drive, describing APC as a party that cares for the people.
