Funso Doherty, a popular politician, has become the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Lagos State for the 2027 elections.
Doherty confirmed the development in a Friday post on his 𝕏 Account, where he says he has accepted the position with gratitude and humility.
He thanked the NDC leadership for deeming him worthy of the candidature and said the work of building a better Lagos has started.

It is with a deep sense of humility, gratitude and purpose that I accept our party’s nomination to serve as its candidate for Governor of Lagos State in 2027.
I am extremely grateful for the trust that the great party has placed in me, and for our shared belief that Lagos deserves much better: an inclusive leadership that works for all.
Now the real work begins. And together we will build the Lagos we know is possible.”
It’s time my friends – O TI Ya!” he wrote.
Theo Abu Agada, the NDC New Media and Strategic Communications Director also confirmed his candidacy and said that with the emergence of Doherty, the All Progressives Congress (APC) would lose Lagos State.
Ladies and gentlemen, @funsodoherty is our great party’s candidate, the NDC, in Lagos State.
“The APC is finished in Lagos,” he wrote on his X account.
