A community development expert and political stakeholder, Blessing Fubara, has defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, expressing confidence that Rivers State would witness political change in the 2027 general elections.
Fubara announced his defection in Abuja after meeting with the national leader of the NDC, Seriake Dickson, and other party stakeholders.
Speaking during the gathering, he described the NDC as “a moving train” and said his decision to join the party was informed by what he called the need to defend the interests of Rivers people amid the state’s ongoing political crisis.

According to him, the political future of Rivers State would be determined by residents during the 2027 elections.
“The soul of Rivers State is at stake,” he said, while expressing optimism that the state would emerge stronger after the polls.
Fubara holds a degree in Community Development and Adult Education and currently serves as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of D’Consiglories LLC.
He has previously held several public and private sector positions, including Technical Assistant to the Rivers State Government on Employment Generation and Empowerment, Resource Consultant to the Niger Delta Development Commission on Youth Development, and Consultant to the Rivers State Government on Urban Renewal and Infrastructure Development.
The development expert has also been involved in community development initiatives, youth empowerment programmes and advocacy efforts focused on urban renewal and socio-economic growth in Rivers State and the Niger Delta region.
