The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has approved the promotion of 7,472 personnel comprising 2,134 officers and 5,338 marshals as part of efforts to strengthen professionalism, leadership and road safety operations across the country.

The corps said the promotion was designed to reward merit and recognise the dedication, competence, discipline and years of service of personnel who have distinguished themselves in the discharge of their duties.

In a statement posted on its X page on Friday, Corps Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps ,National Headquarters, Abuja, Osondu Ohaeri, said under the new arrangement, Heads of Departments, Corps Officers, Heads of Special Units and Commanding Officers have been directed to decorate the newly promoted personnel under their respective commands from Wednesday, August 26 to Friday, August 28, 2026.

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the promotion as both a reward and a responsibility, urging the beneficiaries to justify the confidence reposed in them.

He said, “Every new rank must translate into a higher level of professionalism, accountability, leadership and service delivery.”

According to him, the effectiveness of the FRSC goes beyond its patrol vehicles, technology and enforcement structures, stressing that the quality and commitment of its personnel remain central to achieving safer roads.

“The strength of FRSC is not measured only by its patrol vehicles, technology or enforcement architecture, but fundamentally by the quality, character and commitment of the men and women who stand between road users and the consequences of unsafe road behaviour,” Mohammed said.

The corps marshal congratulated the newly promoted officers and marshals and charged them to see their elevation as a call to greater responsibility.

He urged them to “do more, lead better and serve with greater distinction,” adding that every additional stripe, pip or insignia comes with increased expectations from the Corps, the Federal Government and the Nigerian people.

Mohammed also stressed the need for the newly promoted personnel to maintain discipline both on and off the road, treat members of the public with dignity and uphold the integrity of the Corps.

The promotion comes as the FRSC intensifies its operational, technological and public enlightenment efforts aimed at reducing road traffic crashes and improving compliance with traffic regulations nationwide.

The corps said a motivated and professionally developed workforce was essential to sustaining these interventions and delivering measurable improvements in road safety.

It urged the newly promoted personnel to carry their responsibilities with renewed purpose, reminding them that in the FRSC, rank is not merely worn but “earned, entrusted and ultimately measured by service.”

The corps congratulated all the promoted officers and marshals and wished them success as they assume their new responsibilities in service to the nation.
