No fewer than four persons have been confirmed dead while many others were injured in an auto crash on the Ibadan-Oyo expressway.

It was gathered that the accident occurred after the 14-seater bus carrying 20 persons somersaulted several times on the Ibadan-Oyo expressway on Saturday, June 17.

Confirming the incident, the Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) at Atiba, Oyo, Bayode Olugbesan, blamed the accident on overspeeding and overloading.

He said corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary of the State Hospital, Oyo.

The FRSC official said: “The bus, conveying all-male passengers was travelling toward the northern part of the country when the accident occurred.

“The bus was designed to carry 14 passengers but was loaded with 20 passengers.”

Olugbesan appealed to road users to be careful while driving and avoid over speeding, overloading, and night travels.
