Former Adamawa Governor Bindo Returns to APC

Jibrilla Bindo, former governor of Adamawa state, has returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections. 

The former governor had resigned from the APC in January 2023 after losing the party’s governorship ticket.

Bindo formally re-registered as an APC member at his ward in Mubi, Adamawa, on Sunday.

The former governor said his decision to return to the APC followed extensive consultations with political associates and confidants, adding that he had always respected party discipline and avoided actions that could be interpreted as anti-party activities.

The former governor said he consulted Vice-President Kashim Shettima, whom he described as a brother and confidant.

He recalled his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu, describing it as “pleasant and memorable,” and pledged to support APC candidates in the state and work for the party’s success in the 2027 elections.

Bindo said he returned to the ruling party not out of personal ambition or political division, but to help strengthen the APC and contribute to its electoral success.

“I am back to the APC not to divide, but to contribute; not to fight, but to build; and above all, to work with the party and its candidates toward victory,” he said.

Bindo had expressed interest in contesting the 2027 governorship election on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform, but withdrew from the race in May.
