Five CCC Members Killed in Fatal Car-Truck Collision on Badagry Expressway

5 people have died following a fatal head-on collision involving a Toyota Camry and an Iveco truck along the Badagry Expressway in Lagos State.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday 22nd of August at Sawmill, near Mowo Bus Stop. The Shepherd Oluwakorede Ajao was coming from the beach where he lead four brothers for prayer on Friday 21st of August 2026. The accident happened on their way from the beach and took the lives of five of them; Oluwakorede Ajao, Brother Michael, Brother Opemipo, Brother Azeez and Brother Iyanu Oluwa. According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), a distress call reporting the crash was received at about 5:16 a.m. prompting the immediate deployment of the agency’s Dolphin Response Team from its Igando base.
Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders discovered a badly damaged Toyota Camry with registration number FKJ 630KS, which had collided head-on with an Iveco truck with registration number T28081 LA.

Preliminary Investigation Points to Speeding and Reckless Driving

In a statement issued on Saturday, LASEMA Permanent Secretary Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said preliminary investigations indicated that the crash resulted from excessive speed and reckless driving by the driver of the Toyota Camry.

According to the agency, the Camry driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the oncoming Iveco truck.
The severity of the impact resulted in the deaths of five adult male occupants of the Toyota Camry.

LASEMA said emergency responders carefully recovered the bodies of the victims and handed them over to officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for further necessary action.

Multiple Emergency Agencies Respond
Several emergency and security agencies participated in the rescue and recovery operation, including the LASEMA Dolphin Team, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Federal Road Safety Corps and officers of the Nigeria Police Force from Morogbo Division.
