In that position, Arunma Oteh was firm but friendly and led initiatives that helped the Nigerian capital market climb out of the 2009/2010 financial crisis. The reforms that she led have put our market on a stronger footing.
I can say with confidence as the current Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group that the Nigerian capital market is stronger and more resilient and not likely to witness that type of crash in the future, all thanks to Ms Oteh and the able regulators that have followed in her stead.
Apart from her tenure as the Director-General (DG) of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Nigeria, Arunma Oteh has served as Treasurer and Vice President at the African Development Bank and the World Bank and is now embarking on an academic career at the Oxford University.
