Former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard is reportedly “under police investigation” in Seoul after arousing suspicion with a social media post.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The ex-England international headed to South Korea in February after spending several months as a free agent. The 31-year-old endured a slow start to his spell in the Far East, as another injury held him back, but has rediscovered a spark on the field of late.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Lingard has been among the goals for FC Seoul, while also taking on their captain’s armband. He has spoken of his happiness in Asia, with the Old Trafford academy graduate rediscovering his smile after a testing period in his professional career.

DID YOU KNOW?
He is, however, generating unfortunate headlines off the pitch. According to YTN, Lingard is “under police investigation on suspicion of riding an electric scooter without a license”. The incident in question allegedly took place on September 16, with a photo posted on social media that has since been deleted.
WHAT NEXT?
Lingard is pictured on a motorised scooter, with that behaviour attracting attention from the Gangnam Police department. They are eager to discover whether the former United and Nottingham Forest midfielder – who was not wearing safety equipment and was banned from driving in the UK for 18 months back in September 2023 – has an international license and whether he had been drinking.
