Erling Haaland has added another trophy to his considerable collection after winning the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for August. Given the Norwegian’s form – hitting seven goals in the month’s three games – it would have been hard to make a case for anyone else to take home the prize. Fabian Hurzeler was awarded Manager of the Month after a fine start with Brighton, Cole palmer won the Goal of the month award while David Raya won the save of the month award

Erling Haaland has won the Premier League Player of the Month award for August following his electric start to the season for Manchester City, while Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has snared the Manager of the Month gong.

Haaland, after a summer of rest, roared into life at the outset of the domestic league season, banging in consecutive hat-tricks to sit on seven goals after just three games.

The Norwegian – if he can stay fit – already appears the early favourite to win the Premier League Golden Boot with his nearest current challengers – Mo Salah, Noni Madueke, Bryan Mbeumo and Luis Diaz – already four back, on three goals each.

Haaland – as part of a City team that have made an ominous, 100% start to their 2024/25 Premier League campaign – scored in the opening-day win over Chelsea, before grabbing trebles against first Ipswich, and then West Ham.

While on Norway duty in the recent UEFA Nations League international break, Haaland added another strike to his already bulging season tally against Austria.

The other nominees on the list had been Salah, Mbeumo, Amadou Onana, Cole Palmer, David Raya, Bukayo Saka and Danny Welbeck.

Hurzeler gets manager gong

Hurzeler

Hurzeler was appointed Brighton manager in the summer to replace Roberto De Zerbi, and the German has taken to life in the English top flight like a duck to water, with The Seagulls winning two of their first three games, drawing the other to remain unbeaten.

At 31, he is the youngest permanent head coach in English top-flight history, but that has not stopped him from moulding a cohesive Brighton side, as the club continues its ability to unearth some of the brightest managerial minds in the game, following De Zerbi and Graham Potter.

Brighton’s Premier League month saw them begin with a comprehensive away win at Everton, followed by a fine 2-1 home win over Manchester United, and then a 1-1 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates, in a game that saw Declan Rice sent off.

Raya made the best save of the month in Premier League

Raya

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya was named the author of the best save of August. His incredible stop in the match against Aston Villa was selected as the best.

In the second half of that game, the ball hit the crossbar, and Raya quickly reacted as he fell to the ground. Ollie Watkins tried to score on the rebound with a header, but the Spanish goalkeeper miraculously managed to stop it.

The attacking midfielder got the prize for his excellent lob over the Wolves goalkeeper in the Blues’ 6-2 win.

So far, this is Palmer’s only goal this season, although he has also registered four assists in five games.

The 22-year-old will have a chance to focus on the domestic competitions in the first half of the season as he was left out of the Conference League squad.
