Renowned Nigerian statesman and leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, has passed away at the age of 97. Clark’s death was confirmed in an official statement signed by Prof. C. C. Clark on behalf of the family and Mr. Penawei Clark on behalf of his children.

According to the statement, the elder statesman breathed his last on Monday, February 17, 2025.

“The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce the passing of Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON, on Monday, 17th February 2025,” the statement read.

The family expressed appreciation for prayers and support during this time of mourning, adding that further details regarding his funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.

Clark, a revered advocate for the rights of the Niger Delta region, played a significant role in Nigeria’s political landscape, serving in various capacities as a minister, elder statesman, and activist.
