The hunter has become the hunted.
Days after declaring that President Bola Tinubu lacks the energy to run Nigeria and should “pack his things, go home and rest,” presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, has himself suffered exhaustion.
According to his campaign team, Obi collapsed from sheer fatigue following his punishing political schedule and endless travels across the country and beyond.

Sam Omale, Deputy Campaign Spokesperson of the NDC, who disclosed this on Channels Television on Tuesday, was quick to douse fears about his principal’s health, insisting it was nothing more than physical burnout.
“Sometimes I wonder where he gets his energy from. He is in London today and the following morning in Enugu. I’m wondering how he does it. Exhaustion comes in; he is a human being,” Omale said.
“He is in perfect health. There’s nothing wrong with him. It’s just exhaustion, and we are trying to calm him down to take a sleep. He is fine.”
Omale maintained that the development would not affect the party’s campaign, adding that Obi was being prevailed upon to slow down and rest.
The irony is not lost on Nigerians.
Just days ago, at a town hall in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Obi had taken a swipe at Tinubu’s capacity, questioning his competence, energy and frequent foreign trips.
“President Tinubu does not have the competence to run Nigeria. He does not have the energy to run Nigeria. He should pack his things, go home and rest,” Obi had declared to cheering supporters.
He had challenged the President to come to Ebonyi to account for his three years in office and the loans his administration had taken.
“I want President Tinubu to come to Abakaliki to tell the people what he has done in the past three years. I want him to come to Abakaliki to tell you what he used the money he has been borrowing to do for the past three years,” he said.
“President Tinubu has stayed over 260 days out of Nigeria yet, he cannot spend up to 36 days to go round Nigeria to tell the people what he has been doing for the past three years. We will not do that.”
Obi also told Ebonyi residents not to vote along ethnic lines.
“Let nobody divide the South East. I don’t want the people of Ebonyi to vote for me because I am from the South East. I don’t want you to vote for me because I am an Igbo person.
“My dear people, I want you to vote for me because I am qualified to be the President of this country. I want you to vote for me because I am the leading candidate.”
Now, the man who asked the President to go and rest is the one being forced by his own body to take a rest.
