The Women Arise and Centre for Change has described the detention of Sowore and four others by Police as unconstitutional while demanding for their immediate and unconditional release.

Mr. Sowore and four other activists were detained on new year eve while holding peaceful protests.

The Centre in a statement signed by the President, Dr. Joe Okei- Odumakin on Sunday titled “Free Sowore, others now! said the continued detention of Sowore is a clear violation of his person.

The statement states ” that there have been allegations of torture against the Nigerian state over the maltreatment of Mr. Sowore since the latest arrest.

” These are clearly unconstitutional and are clear violation of his person.

“We demand the immediate release of Sowore and his colleagues from these unjust conditions which are clearly unconstitutional.

“It should by now be clear to the Nigerian state that these intimidating acts cannot stop Nigerians from demanding for the right things to be done in the country,she concluded.
