- Cristiano Ronaldo will sit down for crunch talks with Erik ten Hag on Monday
- Ronaldo’s future is in the air as his relationship with Ten Hag remains fragile
- The 37-year-old was forced to train with the club’s U21 side as punishment
- However, he ended up training on his own before leaving the club at 1 pm
- The punishment came after he stormed down the tunnel against the Spurs
Ronaldo is under contract until the end of the season and Ten Hag has made it clear he wants the 37-year-old to see out his deal at the club.
However, the United hierarchy will reportedly let Ronaldo leave during the January transfer window due to his relationship with Ten Hag.
According to the Mirror, Ten Hag and Ronaldo will meet at training on Monday to hash out talks.
Only real remorse from the iconic No 7 will see Ten Hag integrate him back into the first-team picture.
The Athletic go a step further by detailing that if Ronaldo refuses to accept Ten Hag’s handling of him, by playing a sparser role than he’d like, then the Dutchman would not stand in his way of letting him go. Ultimately, if perennial starter Ronaldo needs can’t stomach a reduced role at United then the exit door will be shown.
United would be happy to see Ronaldo leave as long as they can find a club that is willing to pay his mammoth £360,000-a-week wages.
As reported by Sportsmail, Chelsea co-controlling owner Todd Boehly may be open to signing Ronaldo in January.
Boehly has forged a close relationship with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes and was interested in signing the 37-year-old from Manchester United in the summer, but found opposition from then Blues boss Thomas Tuchel.
But the American billionaire is set to re-visit his interest in Ronaldo in January as Manchester United looks to offload the Portuguese.
It remains to be seen whether Tuchel’s replacement Graham Potter would be open to signing Ronaldo.

Monday’s conversation between Ronaldo and Ten Hag comes after Ronaldo stormed down the tunnel and refused to come on as a substitute against Spurs.
The incident took place in the 89th minute. Ronaldo headed down the tunnel, picked up his belongings from the dressing room and left Old Trafford before the final whistle.
The public nature of his departure meant Ten Hag and United had no option but to act. As a result, they banished Ronaldo from first team training and said he must train alongside the club’s U21 side instead.
However, Ronaldo – who arrived at the club at 8.30am – decided to train on his own with the United coaches before leaving club at 1pm.
Monday’s conversation will determine how Ronaldo and the Manchester United coaching staff move forwards following Wednesday’s incident.
Ten Hag wants Ronaldo to show genuine remorse for his actions before allowing him to return to first-team training.
Sportsmail previously reported how Ronaldo has shown thinly veiled disdain for Ten Hag and his coaching team, to the extent of blatantly ignoring one senior staff figure.
As a result, there has been an overarching sense of animosity at the training ground. Players are said to be aware of Ronaldo and Ten Hag clashing on a daily basis, although it is not affecting the spirit in the camp.
