The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Tijani Fatai, today conducted an on-the-spot security assessment at Pan-Atlantic University, Lekki, following the circulation of a viral video showing two masked individuals emerging from a forested area adjoining the institution.
Leading operational personnel of the Lagos State Police Command to the university, the police commissioner met with the institution’s management and reviewed existing security arrangements, while stressing the need for proactive measures to prevent security breaches.
During the visit, CP Fatai urged the university authorities to strengthen their security architecture through enhanced surveillance, improved perimeter protection and stricter access control systems. He also cautioned against actions that could inadvertently compromise security efforts, urging all stakeholders to remain vigilant and cooperative.

As part of measures to reinforce security in the area, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), in collaboration with the Lagos State Government, has deployed surveillance drones to support police operations around the university and adjoining communities.
According to the police, the drones will enhance aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering and crime prevention capabilities, providing real-time monitoring of the environment and supporting rapid response to potential threats.
The commissioner reassured the university management, staff, students and parents of the Lagos State Police Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
He urged the institution to sustain close collaboration with security agencies and adopt additional preventive measures capable of deterring criminal activities within and around the campus.
CP Fatai further reiterated the command’s resolve to maintain peace, public safety and security throughout Lagos, while encouraging residents to remain alert and provide credible information to law enforcement agencies.
The visit comes amid heightened public concern generated by the viral video, which prompted security agencies to intensify monitoring of the area and review existing security protocols.
