Neto: ‘It was crazy’

Pedro Neto, Chelsea midfielder, Sky Sports:

It was a bit crazy. I don’t like to concede that many goals. But happy for the win.

The manager asked for a fresh mentality. In the first-half they caused a lot of trouble, they had a physical team. We needed to be more aggressive. But we kept calm, we got six goals.

The game was tight. For my goal, I put the ball the other way it was coming. Morgan did the most difficult part.

The perfect partnership

Sky just showed a little clip of Rogers and Palmer before the interview started, and it’s just fantastic.

They had been told that Palmer was getting Player of the Match, and Rogers was fuming! All fun and games, of course, but he was talking about his four assists, the fact Palmer scored a penalty, etc etc.

Palmer even offered to say Rogers should have got it, and Rogers joked that he is simply a bystander.

Two best mates tearing it up in the same team together. Just amazing. That’s the dream.

Rogers: ‘It’s a lot different for us’

Cole Palmer, Chelsea midfielder, Sky Sports:

You can see I am enjoying it. Me and Morgz, Joao, the attacking players. It’s not to say the defenders aren’t, but it’s a lot different for us, and we are enjoying it.

We have still got a bit to go. But we are getting results which is the main thing.

Morgan Rogers, Chelsea midfielder, Sky Sports:

The environment the coaching staff and players have made have allowed me to be me. I can help them, they can help me.
It’s a really enjoyable team to play in.

There’s a lot to work on and it’s early days, but these signs don’t usually happen this early, it’s exciting. We can’t get ahead of ourselves.

Palmer: ‘Alonso got a bit angry’

Cole Palmer, Chelsea midfielder, Sky Sports:

Leeds are a good team, tough game, but we needed to go through and we did. Alonso said to up the intensity, the half was flat, so we stepped up. He was calm, but then he got a bit angry, but it was alright.

Morgan Rogers, Chelsea midfielder, Sky Sports:

It is a pleasure to play with the high-calibre players that are here. I am enjoying my football, trying to be free, and playing with a smile.

Good things are happening at the moment.

Green: ‘An incredible 45 minutes’

Rob Green, former Chelsea goalkeeper, Sky Sports:

The fans can’t believe what they are seeing.

Even the mishits are going in – but it seals off an incredible 45 minutes of football.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, former Chelsea forward Sky Sports:

I was saying before that football doesn’t surprise me now, but this surprised me.

Chelsea are here to play

I was ranting and raving at half-time about how poor Chelsea’s depth is, how they looked like they hadn’t played together, etc etc.

But they brought on their stars at the break, and they showed what they are about. Palmer and Rogers are a serious duo. The best attack in the Premier League? Maybe.

They will do plenty of damage this season.

Chelsea win an absolute thriller

Honestly. How do I even begin to assess that?

Chelsea were rubbish in the first-half. Absolutely pants. Leeds were great.

A quadruple half-time change saw the likes of Palmer and Rogers enter the field of play, but it was soon 2-0 to Leeds.

But then… it wasn’t. Palmer, Neto and Welbeck ran riot, the Blues scores SIX second-half goals, and they’re the side that go through.

Mental I tell you. Absolutely mental.

FULL-TIME: Chelsea 6-3 Leeds

Some collapse from Leeds, by the way. From a team that has defended so well this season.

Goal:Chelsea 6-3 Leeds (Welbeck 90 +4′)

Just the seven goals in the second-half, by the way. As you do.

Palmer wants his hat-trick. Rogers pulls it back on the edge of the box, and his mate tries to dink it. He gets it wrong, though, and it’s over.

It is in! Palmer pulls it back, Barco shoots, it hits Welbeck and it’s in.

I’m probably doing him a dis-service, actually. Barco slices it, and Welbeck directs it towards goal.

Just the eight goals this half.

Chelsea 5-3 Leeds

A lovely, floated cross from Okafor sees Calvert-Lewin and Tanaka throw themselves at it, but it’s just too heavy.

Alonso and Farke are deep in conversation on the touchline. I wonder what’s being said.

We’ll have six minutes added on.

Chelsea 5-3 Leeds

The boos are even louder now for Barco following a scuffle with Wilson, but he’s had the last laugh with the goal.

The chaos seems to have calmed a bit now. This one is pretty much over. But what a second-half it’s been

Chelsea 5-3 Leeds

Alonso has just been booked for his complaints about a challenge on Barco, but he won’t mind too much.

Ampadu’s latest long throw comes in. Is this one done?

Gudmundsson works his way into the box. Stach’s effort is blocked, then Tanaka’s is too.

Another throw comes in. Penders catches it.

Goal:Chelsea 5-3 Leeds (Barco 80′)

Leeds fly forward again. Penders comes out to gather Bard’s cross.

The Whites have brought on Gudmundsson for Bard in their final change.

Nice play on the right… Rogers across goal… BARCO! FIVE!

Goal:Chelsea 4-3 Leeds (Calvert-Lewin 75′)

Game is back on!

Calvert-Lewin has one back for Leeds. The lead is back to one.

Good work from Okafor on the left and the low cross is perfect, with Chavarria just about not able to get back in time.

Colwill is off for Fofana, in the meantime.

This one is going any way.

Chelsea 4-2 Leeds

For what feels like the first time this half, I can breathe – until Palmer dances into the box again and this time hits the side netting.

Leeds want a penalty as Wilson gets round the back and wins a corner. They need a goal quickly if they are to get back into this. That said, Chelsea moved quickly…

Welbeck blocks Stach’s effort. Barco eventually clears.

SUBS! Chelsea 4-2 Leeds

Here come Noah Okafor, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anton Stach and Ao Tanaka.

Off go James, Nmecha, Aaronson and Longstaff.

That’s definitely too late now. You wouldn’t bet against Chelsea adding a few more.

What a turn up for the books.

Goal:Chelsea 4-2 Leeds (Welbeck 65′)

What is Daniel Farke doing? Do something, Daniel!

Chelsea are tearing Leeds apart here. A free-kick is well worked and it comes back out to Palmer, who shoots. It looks like it’s arrowing into the top corner but it’s I think Muharemovic who gets his body in the way.

Finally. Talks about better late than never – but probably not.

IT’S FOUR!

Before those subs can be made, Welbeck has made it four for Chelsea.

Rogers does well to get past and then around Muharemovic. It falls to Welbeck on the edge of the box – Bijol and Justin are at sixes and sevens and the forward puts it in.

Can hardly believe what I’m watching.

Goal:Chelsea 3-2 Leeds (Neto 60′)

Comeback. Complete.

My word.

Seven, SEVEN minutes after going behind, Chelsea lead.

Bijol can’t cover as Rogers is played through and, as Bard comes across to get the ball, Rogers pokes it to Neto. Neto does the rest, curling it into the bottom corner.

Sensational.

‘Exquisite’

Matt Barlow at Stamford Bridge:

Two Palmer goals in two minutes have supercharged Stamford Bridge. The second, exquisite.

The first a mystery penalty, given for who knows what and further evidence the Premier League referees might have forgotten how to referee a game without VAR.

CLOSE! Chelsea 2-2 Leeds

Oh my word. It’s almost three for Chelsea. Palmer dashes forward down the left this time and James makes the run. Zetterer comes out, James tries to chip it, and it’s wide.

This is a completely new Blues side. If one team is going to go on and win it…

There were 129 seconds between Palmer’s two goals, we’ve just been told.Share

Goal:Chelsea 2-2 Leeds (Palmer 55′)

Talk about a momentum shift. Leeds had gone two up just moments ago – now it’s back to one and Chelsea are bang up for it with their stars on the pitch.

AND IT’S 2-2! JUST LIKE THAT! WHAT A FINISH FROM COLE PALMER!

Rogers’ knock down from the throw finds Palmer to the right of the box. He side-foots it into the bottom former with a gorgeous finish, and we are all level! Cole Palmer has a brace.

He is back…

Goal:Chelsea 1-2 Leeds (Palmer PEN, 53)

COLE PALMER MAKES NO MISTAKE!

Bottom right. Zetterer goes the right way, but it’s right in the corner.

Game on.
