Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Omooba Segun Adewale (OSA) has accused the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun of committing perjury, alleging that he lied on oath and not fit to be a Governor.

Adewale who is the Director of Communications and Strategy for the Campaign Organisation of the frontline PDP gubernatorial aspirant in Ogun State, Dr Ladi Adebutu dropped the comment recently at his private residence in Ilaro with some selected senior journalists.

He also asked Governor Abiodun, to as a matter of urgency, throw in the towel as Governor and as well withdraw from the 2023 gubernatorial race in the state so that posterity will be kind to him.

The marketing communication guru and a 2015 governorship aspirant in Ogun State, added that whilst Abiodun has refused to do the honourable thing the State Assembly should commence impeachment proceedings on him, strip him of his immunity and hand him over to the Police for investigation and prosecution.

Adewale stated, “The implication of Dapo Abiodun is nothing but perjury and we all know that this is a grave criminal offence under our laws, conventions and constitution. In civilized climes people with questionable character like this always do the the honorable thing. We at Ladi Adebutu Campaign Organisation [LADCO] therefore urge Dapo Abiodun and his party, APC to do the right thing, tender an unreserved apology to the people of Ogun State so that posterity will be kind to him.

He should throw in the towel by submitting himself for interrogation, prosecution and impeachment by the State Assembly. Anything less than that would be an insult to the collective intelligence and integrity of the Ogun State people.”

The LADCO head of strategy and communications stressed that if the Ogun State Legislators fail to save the day, as a stakeholder he will sue them for dereliction of duty, aiding and abetting of a man that has violated the law, brought shame and dishonor to the state.

He further explained that such a man cannot continue to sit tight, parading himself as a Governor of high profile state like Ogun, and that the lawmakers owe the people the duty to be perturbed and responsive to the damning criminal allegations against the Governor both locally and internationally.

“Its a big shame that today Ogun State has a man that can publicly say he did go to school in Ife but he didn’t graduate from the University of Ife (OAU) and that he never claimed to have obtained a degree from the University of Ife, and worst still he cannot explain how he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. Here is a man arrested in the United States over credit card fraud and forgery in 1986, these are sufficient grounds for his disqualification by not only INEC but his party APC.” Adewale stated.

He however extolled the virtues of the PDP aspirant, Dr Ladi Adebutu while also describing him as the best man for the job of number one seat in the state. He said:

“I am indeed proud to be among the leaders of the campaign team of Dr Ladi Adebutu, as a populist, his programmes wear human face and ultimately masses friendly. His roadmap is equally anchored on instituting the appropriate reforms in the government machinery that ensures continuity, sustainability, good governance and effective performance by credible leadership.

He added, “His plausible agenda has the capability to truly put in place a deliberate, concerted and determined team that would work together in recovering Ogun back from the shackles of disjointed wasteful and corruption-ridden programmes. By God’s grace he will not only get the PDP ticket but will also emerge victorious as Ogun State Governor by God’s grace.”
