Dr. Laura Okoro, an accomplished Nigerian realtor, entrepreneur, and humanitarian, stands at the helm of Resilience Homes Limited, a burgeoning real estate company. Additionally, she owns the fashion brand Dress2inspire and runs the Laura Okoro Foundation. A distinguished graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University with a BSc in Applied Microbiology and Brewing, Dr. Laura recently received recognition as one of the 50 Young Persons of the Year at the Young Entrepreneur International Summit.

In a recent media briefing, this versatile businesswoman delved into the realm of real estate development in Nigeria, shedding light on the challenges she faces as a woman in a predominantly male industry and outlining her vision for the future alongside her ongoing projects. She embarked on her real estate journey in 2019, initially serving as a secretary in a real estate firm. This experience fueled her transformation into a certified and professional realtor.

Addressing the challenges of being a female realtor, she candidly shared, “The challenges are many, but I will just narrow it down to one. As a woman in a male-dominated industry, trust me, it is not very rosy. Many times people downplay you, talk down on you, try to take advantage of you, all in the name of patronage. But by God’s Grace, we are already used to it, and, of course, have better ways of handling such issues.”

She emphasized how real estate provided her with the opportunity to create jobs and generate legitimate income through her company, Resilience Homes, a brand she attributes to divine ownership.

Detailing Resilience Homes mission, she remarked, “Our goals and visions involve not just selling real estate but making sure we add value to society developmentally and economically. We pride ourselves on trust, top-notch services, credibility, transparency, charisma, and character.”

She also asserted that her company is committed to delivering fear and risk-free world-class services, meeting the diverse demands of clients worldwide in housing and property investments. Discussing current projects and the future of real estate in Nigeria, she revealed that Resilience Homes is actively working on White Homes Estate. Dr. Laura expressed optimism about the future, highlighting the ease of property ownership through initiatives like mortgage options.

In her parting words, she encouraged Nigerian youths to take initiative, stating, “Every Nigerian youth should stand up for themselves by doing something. If you can’t get a job, create one, so we can make our country habitable.”
