Daniel Bwala, special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on policy communication, has told former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar that he would lose to the ruling party in the 2027 presidential election.

Bwala was reacting to remarks by Abubakar, who was a guest on Arise TV on Wednesday.

The former vice-president has run for the number one office six times, appearing on the ballot as a presidential candidate on three occasions — 2007, 2019, and 2023.

During the show, Abubakar said the 2027 general election will be his last shot at the presidency.

Abubakar also expressed confidence in the opposition momentum building within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying any presidential candidate backed by the coalition would defeat Tinubu in 2027.

In a post via X on Wednesday night, Bwala, a former aide to the ex-vice president, dismissed the ADC as a gathering of “aggrieved stateless leaders”.

Bwala said it is almost certain that Abubakar would be the ADC presidential flagbearer in the poll, but that Tinubu would defeat him again as he did in 2023, when the ex-vice-president had governors and state structures behind him.

“My former boss @atiku said ‘with a coalition candidate, President Tinubu @officialABAT is dead on arrival. Lol,” Bwala wrote.

“But we know you are the coalition candidate YET (no vex sir), he defeated you in 2023 when you had governors, states, and structures. These governors, states and structures are with him.

“With a coalition of aggrieved ‘STATELESS’ leaders, I doubt if President Tinubu would bother to check the scoreboard on the day.”
