One of Nigeria’s international music stars, Bunmi Sunkanmi, has been honoured with the US President, Joe Biden’s Lifetime Achievement Award for her invaluable contributions to the building of a stronger American nation through volunteer service.
Bunmi Sunkanmi is a US-based gospel music minister who dedicated her life to God since the early age of nine. Her unofficial journey into singing began at St. Peters’ Anglican Church Ile- Oluji, Ondo State Nigeria.
Officially, she began her career in music in year 2001 when she released her first album titled ‘Give Thanks’. Bunmi recollects having several dreams and revelations pointing to divine plans for her in the Gospel music industry.

Bunmi’s hardwork and tenacious work ethic is paying off as she has 4 albums to her credit till date. The first titled ‘Give Thanks’ was released in the year 2001 at Africa Sings Studios, Nigeria. The second album was released in the year 2011 in Maryland, USA, and was titled ‘Power of Praise’.
While serving at Winners Chapel International Maryland as a worship leader and later Music director in 2015, she released her 3rd album titled “Unstoppable Praise”.
Bunmi released a single in January 2022 titled “Holy Ghost Move” and in August 2023, she released her much anticipated 8-track album produced by music maestro, and the famous United Nations Ambassador for Peace – Wole Oni. This latest project has been an inspiration to the world
When Bunmi is not making music or serving in church, she preoccupies herself with organising and hosting events like Rekindle the fire, New Season, and other gospel events in the USA and Nigeria.
In 2020 she was led by the Holy Spirit to organise a praise and worship event every first day of the month, with the objective to bring all nations of the world together virtually (online) for the purpose of Worship. This online event continues to grow in impact and popularity every month.
Significantly, 2018 was a remarkable year that God began to open international doors for Bunmi as she got invitations to minister at a crusade in Kampala, Uganda alongside one of her spiritual fathers named Pastor Ning Kum after which she also had the opportunity to minister at Miracle Centre under the leadership of Bishop Robert Kayanja during the 77 Days of Glory events in 2018. Later, she would receive invitations to minister in the United Kingdom, Canada and other countries of the world.
