The UEFA Champions League 2024/25 will be the first season under a new format that will see 36 teams participate in the tournament for the first time. Unlike the previous season which included 32 teams and eight groups, the 2024/25 season of Champions League will place all 36 teams in one group.

The 2024/25 season of the Champions League kicked off on 17 September 2024 and the final will be played on 31 May 2025 at the Munich Football Arena.

Each team in the league phase will play against eight different clubs, four matches at home and four away. The top eight teams at the conclusion of the league phase will qualify for the knockout stages, while clubs finishing in ninth to 24th will participate in a two-legged play-off for a spot in the round of 16.

The last 12 teams in the league phase will be knocked out.

The first matchday featured an excellent performance from several teams with bayern netting 9 past Dinamo and Harry kane netting 4 in the process becoming the first english player to score 4 in a champions league game, the top English scorer in Champions League or European Cup history with 33 goals in 45 games, passing Wayne Rooney’s old mark of 30 goals, Mbappe and kendrick also netted as current holders started their campaign with a 3-1 win over Stuttgart, meanwhile Vandijk and konate also headed in as Liverpool got an away win against AC millan.

Ademola AKINBOLA is an author, publisher, trainer, digital marketing strategist, and a brand development specialist with nearly three decades of experience in the areas of branding, communication, corporate reputation management, business development, organizational change management, and digital marketing.
