Barcelona president Joan Laporta has provided uncertain updates on the future of star player Lionel Messi and boss Ronald Koeman.
Messi is out of contract at the Camp Nou on 30 June and there is yet to be an agreement on a new deal amid the Blaugrana’s deep level of financial uncertainty.
The future of Koeman is also of immediate concern – the Dutchman still has one season remaining on his two-year deal at the Camp Nou and has no intention of resigning his position.
He oversaw a mixed season for the Catalan giants full of ups and downs, but ultimately their inability to fulfil their title ambitions has placed his position under great jeopardy.
Barca finished the league campaign in third place – distant of title winners Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, having shockingly lost late home games against Granada and Celta Vigo, alongside being held at home by Atleti.
That underwhelming finish ensured they did not win the domestic double – having lifted the Copa del Rey in April – and followed on from a disappointing Champions League campaign when they were eliminating 5-2 on aggregate by Paris Saint-Germain
