As the world celebrates Workers’ Day today, an employer of labour, Mr. Kazeem Ashagidigbi, has stressed the need for governments at all levels, as well as private sector employers, to design and faithfully implement better welfare packages for workers in order to boost their morale, enhance service delivery, and improve productivity.

Mr. Ashagidigbi disclosed this in a message to mark the 2023 International Workers Day.

According to him, no government or private organisation can succeed without prioritising workers’ welfare

”There’s no doubt that human capital in both the private and public sectors plays a pivotal role in the advancement of socio-economic development of the country”, he added.

He underlined the need to adjust workers’ remuneration and welfare packages in line with the current inflationary trends all over the world.
To him, a sincere and consistent approach to workers’ welfare will increase workers’ contributions to the GDP and buoy the nation’s economy.

Ashagidigbi congratulated Nigerian workers for the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President-elect, saying Tinubu’s pedigree and track record as a pro-workers administrator when he was a two-term Governor of Lagos State is a source of hope and joy for workers.

“Bola Ahmed Tinubu as we all know is a workers-friendly administrator, and I can vouch that he will put smiles on the faces of Nigerians’’, Mr. Ashagidigbi added.

While appreciating Labour Union leaders in the country, he urged them to be more proactive in protecting the interests of workers in both the public and private sectors in the overall interest of the nation’s development.
