President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is leaning toward backing automatic Senate tickets for select lawmakers in 2027, citing their role in stabilising the National Assembly, according to Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris.
Speaking to political stakeholders in Kebbi, Idris — also known as Kauran Gwandu — said the president is “favourably disposed” to ensuring continuity for senators who have provided steady leadership and smoothened relations with the executive.
■ Named Lawmakers

Governors Idris listed Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara West), Orji Uzor Kalu (Abia North), and Opeyemi Bamidele (Ekiti Central) as among those being considered.
Others named: Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), Abdullahi Yahaya Abubakar (Kebbi North), Idiat Oluranti Adebule (Lagos West), Danjuma Goje (Gombe Central), and Adetokunbo Abiru (Lagos East).
*Stability Argument*
Idris said the senators have been “instrumental in providing steady leadership within the Senate, fostering cooperation with the executive arm of government, and ensuring the smooth passage of key policies and reforms.”
He added their contributions “have significantly helped in stabilising the Senate and strengthening governance under the current administration.”
■ No Official Word Yet
There is no confirmation from the Presidency or the APC national leadership. The disclosure has triggered debate in political circles over automatic tickets and internal party democracy ahead of 2027.
_Note: Duplicate listing of Yahaya Abdullahi and Abdullahi Yahaya Abubakar for Kebbi North appears in the governor’s remarks._
