WHAT IS THE ANOINTING?
According to Isa. 10 v 27
“And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”
- It is the burden removing and yoke destroying power of God.
- It can also be described as God’s ability upon you to enable you to accomplish things with ease.
- Below are some of the different dimensions of the anointing.
DIFFERENT DIMENSIONS OF THE ANOINTING
- 1 Cor. 1 v 18 & 25
v.18”For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
v.25 “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”
- 1 Cor. 2 v 14
“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
- 1 Cor. 3 v 18 & 19
v.18 “Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.”
v.19 “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.”

“I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.”
- THE UNSCIENTIFIC DIMENSION OF THE ANOINTING
1. JONAH IN THE BELLY OF THE FISH
- God is supremely above human science.
He made the first submarine by keeping Jonah alive for three days inside the fish. That fish was the first submarine. Halleluyah! Jonah 1 v 17 – “Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.”
2. AXE HEAD SWAM TO THE SURFACE
- Scientifically, iron cannot float on water. But God through Elijah caused an axe head made of iron to float (2 Kings 6 v 1 – 7). That is the anointing at work.
3. JESUS WALKING ON THE SEA
- Jesus walked on the sea. Matthew 14 v 25 “And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.” But naturally, water is liquid hence one cannot walk on it, that is science, but with the unscientific dimension of anointing; Jesus walked on the sea.
4. JOSHUA COMMANDED THE SUN AND THE MOON
- All planets and stars revolve at various velocities round the sun. These planetary bodies remain in motion perpetually in order to maintain the galaxy in equilibrium.
As interesting as this may be, scientifically; a day. A servant of God, Joshua commanded the sun and the moon to stand still for almost a day without any problem.
Joshua 10 v 12 “Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.”
5. ISAIAH COMMANDED THE SUN
- Also in Isaiah 38 v 8 “Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down”, Prophet Isaiah caused the sun to move backwards forty minutes. Amazing anointing of God above human science.
6. JESUS ASCENDED INTO HEAVEN
- The law of gravity states that what goes up comes down. But this law was void when our Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven. Luke 24 v 51 “And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.”
7. ELIJAH CAUGHT UP INTO HEAVEN
- Also when Elijah was caught up into heaven. 2 Kings 2 v 11 “And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.”
- Beloved, the anointing of God is real. Just Believe!
- THE UNBELIEVABLE (FOOLISH) DIMENSION OF THE ANOINTING
1 Cor. 1 v 18 – 20
v.18 “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
v.19 “For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
v.20 “Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?”
1. JESUS AT THE WEDDING IN CANAAN OF GALILEE
- At Canaan of Galilee, Mary told the servers “whatsoever he saith unto you, do it”
John 2 v 5.
Jesus asked the waterpots to be filled with water and then commanded them to begin to draw. They got the best wine. The whole process looked foolish but the anointing manifested.
2. ELISHA AND THE WIDOWS OIL – 2 Kings 4 v 1 – 7
- The woman was besieged with creditors threatening to take her two sons to be bondmen.
- The prophet asked her a preposterous statement “If she had anything in the house.”
- The prophet asked her to go borrow vessels after she declared a pot of oil she had. Locked the door, poured the oil into all those vessels and that was it.
- Every vessel filled, she sold the oil, made money, paid off her late husband’s debt.
- Incredible anointing displayed. It is beyond human comprehension.
- How can oil from a bottle fill other vessels?
- Thank God she obeyed. She didn’t look at the foolishness of the anointing.
- Prosperity came into her house.
- Beloved, though the anointing may look foolish, it is wise to God to take you to your destiny.
- 1 Cor. 1 v 25 “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”
- Belief destroys doubt.
- Once doubt is destroyed, belief sets in and we will never perceive the foolishness of the Gospel.
3. ELISHA’S PROPHETIC DECLARATION ABOUT PLENTY IN SAMARIA
– 2 Kings 7 v 1 – 20
- Elisha declared the counsel of God about sudden plenty in Samaria during famine.
- An office in the Palace doubted the prophesy with ignominy
- Elisha reiterated the prophesy with another prophetic utterance against the officer
- By divine arrangement, the prophecies came to pass.
- Another foolish dimension of the anointing.
4. ISAAC PROSPERED DURING FAMINE – Gen. 26 v 1 – 33
- God instructed Isaac not to go to Egypt during famine but to dwell where he would direct him – Gerar
- God prospered him there
- He dug wells in the valley of Gerar, they strove with him and he called the places, Esek , Sitnah and Rehoboth where he finally found water without strives. After that he blossomed in Beersheba
- That is the anointing in action.
- THE INCREDIBLE DIMENSION OF THE ANOINTING
1. WALL OF JERICHO – Joshua 6 v 14 – 16
- Beloved the Holy Spirit could instruct you to do something which is incredible even to you.
- Please don’t doubt. When you express doubt, it removes the seed of fulfilment. So believe even if it sounds so unbelievable.
- For example, the fall of the walls of Jericho by marching round the city once for six days and marching round seven times the seventh day with a shout on the seventh day and the wall came down. Halleluyah.
- No Explosives! No Dynamite! No grenades! No Bombs! No Bulldozers! Yet the wall came down.
- Very unbelievable! Despite the magnitude and the height of the Jericho wall.
- No matter what you are passing through now, just believe. God will do it for you by His incredible anointing in Jesus name.
- THE RIDICULOUS DIMENSION OF THE ANOINTING
1. NAMAAN vs. ELISHA – 2 Kings 5 v 1 – 14
- Namaan was a commander of the Syrian army.
- Obviously a man of high status and esteem.
- He was a leper
- He went to Prophet Elisha for healing
- Elisha sent a messenger to him to go and wash seven times in Jordan River.
- Namaan found this message discourteous and ridiculous.
- His servants advised him and he did according to the saying of the man of God and got healed instantly.
- No matter how ridiculous the instruction may sound, as long as it is from the Lord, it shall be a miracle.
- The anointing will work for you in Jesus name.
2. CALEB – Joshua 14 v 7 – 11
“Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.”
v.8 “Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.”
v.9 “And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.”
v.10 “And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.”
v.11 “As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.”
- Caleb’s strength at 85 years was same as at when he was 45
- This is the incredible anointing of the Almighty God.
WHAT DIVINE ANOINTING CAN DO?
- Isaiah 10 v 27
“And in that day his burden will depart from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck; and the yoke will be broken because of the anointing”
- Breaks the yoke
- Sets me free from bondages
- Makes me to walk out of captivity
- Breaks satanic covenants
- Destroys satanic altars
- Breaks causes, spell and enchantment
- Removes embargo
- Releases prisoners and sets free from manipulation
- Brings back those appointed to death
- Breaks the pronouncement of sudden death
- It sends demons packing
- It removes cages around one.
- It brings back my diverted blessings.
- Removes spiritual and physical blindness
- Cuts off the hands of the wicked.
- Makes the hand of the Lord to establish
- Makes the arm of God to strengthen you.
- It does not allow the enemy to exact you
- It does not permit affliction.
- It brings mercy.
- It makes you to escape affliction

- ANOINTING OF COME AND SEE
