Peter Obi Media Reach, POMR, has described the Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja that voided the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, registration as a temporary setback, insisting the march to a “New Nigeria” remains on course.

In a statement released on Thursday, June 26, 2026, POMR Spokesperson, Idris Zekeri Jnr, said the coalition’s legal team is reviewing the judgement and will pursue “immediate corrective and appellate measures.”

“We have received the news of today’s bizarre ruling from the court in Lokoja regarding the legal status of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC,” the statement read.

“While our legal teams are thoroughly reviewing the judgement to initiate immediate corrective and appellate measures, our Principal urges all our supporters, coalition partners, and patriots nationwide to remain absolutely calm and focused.”

—“Detour, but destination is certain”—

POMR said it anticipated resistance in its effort to challenge the political status quo.

“We always knew that the journey to dismantle a deeply entrenched and grossly underperforming political status quo would be met with fierce institutional resistance and unexpected legal detours,” it stated.

“Today’s ruling is a hurdle, not a stop sign. Our commitment to providing a transparent, legitimate, and formidable alternative for Nigerians remains unshakeable. The platform we are building is robust, and our legal rights will be vigorously pursued.”

The group urged supporters not to be discouraged by the development.

“Do not be discouraged; the vehicle may face a temporary breakdown, but our destination remains non-negotiable,” the statement added.

The Lokoja court earlier in the day set aside its previous order that had compelled INEC to register the NDC, leaving the party without legal recognition for now.
