“You’re medically unfit to s!eep with a woman, why you no go ‘Dey Kampe’?” – Lere Olayinka roasts Rufai Oseni after Arise News interview ends in chaos

A heated exchange between Arise News anchor Rufai Oseni and Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has continued to generate reactions following a dramatic moment on The Morning Show.

The controversy started during Friday’s live programme when Oseni questioned Olayinka about the inclusion of former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu, in the presidential campaign council despite corruption allegations against her.

Rather than respond to Oseni’s question, Olayinka objected to the anchor’s manner of speaking and said he would not answer questions from him.

Olayinka said he preferred to have the conversation with what he described as “reasonable human beings”, adding that he did not want to engage with someone who had previously used the term “gbewudani” while describing other people.

“Well, I’m very sorry to say this, Oseni Rufai, I don’t want to answer any question from you. I want to concentrate. I want this conversation to be among reasonable human beings, people who will not come and tell, who will not come and describe other people as ‘gbewudani’.”

At that point, co-anchor Ayo Mairo-Ese intervened and reminded Olayinka that he had agreed to appear on a programme hosted by multiple anchors, including Rufai Oseni and Reuben Abati.

Mairo-Ese firmly rejected the attempt to exclude one of the programme’s anchors from the interview and subsequently brought the session to an end, telling Olayinka that he could be invited back when he was ready to speak with all the anchors.

The incident quickly went viral, with Nigerians debating whether Olayinka was justified in refusing to engage Oseni or whether he should have answered the question despite his disagreement with the anchor.

Following the confrontation, Rufai Oseni appeared to respond to the controversy on social media with the words:

“I DEY KAMPE! FIRE DOWN.”

Olayinka later fired back at Oseni with a highly personal response, writing:

“Why won’t a 46-year-old man, who has never been married and probably medically unfit to sleep on the same bed with a woman ‘dey kampe’ all the time? What exactly is he using his body to do?”
