African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has declared that the 2027 general election will be his final attempt to become President of Nigeria.

Atiku, a former vice president, made the declaration during a Facebook Live session, as he prepares for another presidential contest after decades of pursuing the country’s highest political office.

The former vice president, who served from 1999 to 2007, has contested the presidency several times and has secured the ADC ticket for the 2027 election.

Speaking during the session, Atiku said he would not seek the presidency again after the 2027 poll.

“Whether I win or lose, 2027 will be my last time contesting for the presidency,” he said.

Atiku also renewed his allegations concerning President Bola Tinubu’s academic credentials, claiming that the President’s certificates were forged.

The ADC candidate said he stood by his previous position on the matter, insisting that questions surrounding the academic qualifications of Nigeria’s President were unacceptable.

“I was the one who raised the issue surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s academic certificates, and I stand by my position that there was forgery,” Atiku said.

“It is unacceptable for the President of Nigeria to have such questions surrounding his academic credentials,” he added.

Atiku’s declaration comes as political parties and their candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 presidential election, with the campaign season officially commencing amid growing opposition activity.
