La Liga champions hopeful of signing World Cup winner in coming days. The midfielder has a year left on contract with Man City and has not shown desire to extend

Barcelona are pushing hard to sign Manchester City star Rodri.

The Premier League rejected their opening £38.5 million bid. They have now made an increased offer of £51.4m, per Spanish outlet Sport.

Barcelona are reportedly confident the new financial package will be enough to secure a deal with City.

The Catalan club face competition from Real Madrid, who are also keen to sign the World Cup winner.

Los Blancos have expressed a willingness to pay up to £43m for Rodri, but City want £60m to sanction a sale.

The 30-year-old reinforced his reputation as one of the best in his position after helping Spain win the 2026 World Cup this summer.

He featured in all eight games and was awarded the tournament’s Golden Ball for his impressive performances.

Rodri has been a crucial first-team member for Man City since joining them from Atletico Madrid in 2019.

He has been a consistent performer, helping his side win four Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League.

Man City are reluctant to part ways with the midfielder.

However, Rodri’s contract expires in June 2027, and he has made it clear he doesn’t want to renew his deal.
