An 18-year-old girl, Rukayat Ashiru, appeared before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Friday, facing charges of conspiracy and theft after allegedly stealing N4 million from her boyfriend.
The prosecution, led by PC Olapeju Durodola, told the court that Ashiru, along with accomplices still at large, committed the crime on November 30, 2024, at Mufu Lanihun, Yidi Agugu, Ibadan.
According to Durodola, Ashiru allegedly drugged her boyfriend, Waris Olamilekan, by adding a substance to his drink, rendering him unconscious before stealing the money.
The charges brought against her violate Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Oyo State Criminal Code, 2000.
Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted Ashiru bail at N2 million, requiring two sureties—one being a property owner within the court’s jurisdiction and the other a blood relative of the defendant.
The case has been adjourned until May 26 for a hearing.
