17-Year-Old Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault Of 14-Year-Old Girl in Abuja

A 17-year-old boy is in police custody after he allegedly lured a 14-year-old girl into his room under the guise of buying soya bean cake — and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect, identified as Benjamin Daniel of Angua Mandala, was arrested by operatives of the Airport Police Command following a report filed by the victim’s mother at the Abuja Airport Police Division.

—“He Lured Her With Soya Beans”—

According to the police, the incident happened on August 15, 2026 in Sabo Masalashi area of Bassa, Abuja.

Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Adeola, said the suspect allegedly called the girl over to buy what she was selling, led her into his room, and assaulted her there.

The case was immediately reported by the girl’s mother.

—Swift Police Action—

The Divisional Police Officer of the Abuja Airport Police Division swung into action.

Police said they contacted the victim’s parents, arranged medical attention for the girl, and deployed officers to track down Daniel.

He was later arrested and taken into custody.

In line with the law, the command said Daniel’s statement was recorded in the presence of his mother, as required for juvenile suspects.

The police also confirmed that measures have been put in place to protect the 14-year-old victim and safeguard her welfare throughout the investigation.

–‘”Zero Tolerance For Sexual Violence”—

Commissioner of Police, Airport Police Command, CP Olufunke Ogunbode, condemned the alleged assault and reaffirmed the command’s zero tolerance for rape and sexual violence.

She directed the DPO to ensure the victim receives full protection and that the case is handled strictly in accordance with the law.

After investigations are concluded, the command said Daniel will be arraigned before a juvenile court with appropriate jurisdiction.

The police assured residents that the matter will be handled “professionally and in line with applicable legal procedures.”
