Former Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to former Military President Ibrahim Babangida, Chief Duro Onabule, is dead.

The veteran journalist was said to have died on Tuesday at 83.

Here are 10 things to know about Onabule:

1. Duro Onabule was a Nigerian journalist

2. He was born on September 27, 1939, in Ijebu-Ode. ogun state.

3. He attended CMS Grammar School and School of Journalism, London.

. He was a reporter for the Daily Express in 1961, three years later he joined the staff of Daily Sketch.

5. He spent some time with Daily Sketch before going back to his previous employer, Daily Express.

6. In 1969, he served as the London correspondent of the Express.

7. In the mid-1970s, he worked for the Daily Times, rising to become a deputy editor of Headlines magazine.

8. When MKO Abiola started Concord Press, Onabule was appointed features editor, in 1984, he became the editor of Concord newspaper.

9. He was the national editor of National Concord from 1984 to 1985.

10. Onabule was the presidential spokesman for almost the entire reign of Babangida.
