Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has laid out a bold vision for the future of artificial intelligence, declaring that the world is entering a “decisive period” where the development of superintelligence could usher in a new era of personal empowerment.
In a post on his official WhatsApp channel titled “Personal Superintelligence,” Zuckerberg revealed that Meta is working to create AI systems capable of deeply understanding individuals, helping them achieve their goals, fuel creativity, strengthen relationships, and unlock their fullest potential.
“As profound as the abundance produced by AI may one day be, an even more meaningful impact will come from everyone having a personal superintelligence that helps you achieve your goals… and grow to become the person you aspire to be,” Zuckerberg wrote.

Unlike other industry players focused on centralized AI to automate work and distribute its benefits, Meta’s approach centers on giving individuals direct control of superintelligent tools. Zuckerberg envisions AI seamlessly integrated into daily life through devices like augmented reality glasses that “see what we see” and “hear what we hear,” offering real-time, context-aware assistance.
Zuckerberg likened the rise of superintelligence to transformative technological shifts in history, from freeing humanity from subsistence farming to powering modern science and culture. He argues that AI will similarly enable people to move beyond repetitive tasks and focus on pursuits of creativity, discovery, and personal growth.
However, he acknowledged the risks: “Superintelligence will raise novel safety concerns. We’ll need to be rigorous about mitigating these risks and careful about what we choose to open source.”
Zuckerberg believes the rest of this decade will be pivotal in deciding whether superintelligence becomes a tool of personal empowerment or an impersonal force that displaces large swaths of society.
“Meta believes strongly in building personal superintelligence that empowers everyone. We have the resources, the expertise, and the will to deliver this technology to billions of people,” he said.
