The Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Mohammad Maigari Dingyadi, has explained why President Muhammadu Buhari had to extend the tenure of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu by three months.

Addressing a press conference today in Abuja, Dingyadi said, “Mr President has decided that the present IGP, Mohammed Adamu would continue to serve as the IGP for the next three months to allow for the robust and efficient process of appointing a new IG.

“I think this is not unconnected with the desire of Mr President to not only have a smooth handover, but to also ensure that the right officer is being appointed into that position.”
