Abubakar Dambo, the supervising resident electoral commissioner in charge of the Kuje area council election, says the delay in the announcement of the Kuje area council results is due to the challenges encountered in two wards.
On Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) organised elections in six area councils of Abuja, the country’s capital.
At the moment, INEC has announced final results in five out of the six area councils, which are Bwari, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Kwali, Abaji, and Gwagwalada.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner in four area councils, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerged victorious in one area council — Gwagwalada.
The final result for Kuje area council is yet to be announced.
Speaking with The Nation on Sunday morning, Dambo said the collation centre is waiting for results from two wards — Central and Kabi — in the Kuje area council.
He said the collation officers of the two wards went to the wrong place and had to return to the INEC office on Sunday morning.
“We are waiting for the remaining two wards out of ten. The delay is because the collation officers went to the wrong place and had to return to the INEC office before heading back early this morning to complete the collation process,” he said.
“I am sure that by now they should be on their way back from Kabi ward.”
As at 3pm on Sunday, 84.73 percent of polling units’ results from Kuje area council have been uploaded on INEC results viewing portal (IReV).
