The multiple award-winning Turtle Taido animation series has been named as one of the recipients of funding under the Lagos Film Fund. The series is one of 37 projects selected to receive funding under the program.
The Lagos Film Fund was set up by the Lagos State Government as an intervention to develop the entertainment industry in Lagos.
Premiered in 2015, TURTLE TAIDO is the story of a super powered, lively turtle who travels to different cities on an adventure. On his journeys, he makes friends and learns about different cultures. He also learns about different animals. His special powers enable him to get himself and others out of trouble. Using the compelling power of African Storytelling, Turtle Taido teaches us that when we understand diversity and other people’s cultures, we will treat all people with respect and live with others in peace and harmony, making the world a united and peaceful place for all.
The special intervention fund was announced last year by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu as part of “THEMES Agenda” of his administration aimed at transforming and driving a formidable growth in the Entertainment and Tourism sector of the economy.
The Fund gives special interest-free loans to filmmakers under the Lagos State Creative Industry Initiative (LACI), an initiative of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. The program is aimed at addressing the financial challenges that inhibit quality film production in Lagos and Nigeria which according to the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board (LSFVCB) Barrister Adebukola Agbaminoja has hitherto obstructed the full potentials of the industry.
TURTLE TAIDO has won several local and international awards and is set to commence production of Turtle Taido’s African Adventures.
