Troops of 1 Brigade, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, under Operation Fansan Yamma, neutralized a notorious terrorist kingpin, Sani Rusu, during a fighting patrol in Bamamu Village, Tsafe LGA, Zamfara State, on January 4, 2025.
This operation disrupted terrorist activities in the area.
According to Coordinator, Joint Media Coordination Centre Operation Fansan Yamma, Lieut. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi on the same day, an ambush operation based on credible intelligence was conducted at Kwanar Jollof in Shinkafi LGA, leading to the neutralization of several terrorists.
He said the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one G3 rifle, 8 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 4 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 3 magazines, and 3 motorcycles.
In a separate operation, the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma intensified air strikes on December 30, 2024, targeting a terrorist gathering led by Bello Turji between Fakai and Kware in Shinkafi LGA.
A follow-up strike on January 2, 2025, targeted Ibrahim Chumo’s camp in Sububu Forest, further weakening terrorist strongholds.
On January 5, 2025, ground troops, supported by aerial surveillance, launched an offensive against Bello Turji’s camp in the Chida area of Shinkafi.
The terrorists suffered significant casualties, with their hideouts destroyed.
