Chelsea midfielder, Moises Caicedo, has reportedly blocked his Ecuadorian teammate, Joel Ordonez, from joining Crystal Palace.

This is amid the uncertainty over the player’s future at Belgium side, Club Brugge.

Ordonez joined Brugge in 2023 but has now seen his game time reduced in the ongoing season.

The midfielder has not been part of the team’s matchday squad in the last five games.

He was on the bench in their Champions League Qualifying Round first leg against Rangers on Tuesday.

Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur, reports that Olympique Marseille have been the frontrunners to sign him.

Crystal Palace are said to have recently joined the race to sign the young midfielder as a replacement for departing Eberechi Eze, who has joined Arsenal.

The player now favours a move to Marseille, partly influenced by Caicedo.

Caicedo and Marseille boss, Roberto de Zerbi worked together at Brighton.

Caicedo and Ordonez have played together six times for the Ecuador national team.

Ademola AKINBOLA is an author, publisher, trainer, digital marketing strategist, and a brand development specialist with nearly three decades of experience in the areas of branding, communication, corporate reputation management, business development, organizational change management, and digital marketing.
