“Tinubu Seeks Senate Approval” — Requests Screening of Prof. Amupitan As INEC Chairman, FCC Head, And 28 Federal Commissioners

President Bola Tinubu has formally written to the Senate, requesting the screening and confirmation of Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN) as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The letter, read on Tuesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, urged lawmakers to give the request expeditious consideration and approval. Senator Akpabio subsequently referred the matter to the Committee of the Whole for legislative action.

In a separate communication, President Tinubu also sought the Senate’s confirmation of Mrs. Ayo Omidiran as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) along with 28 other nominees for Federal Commissioner positions, including Dr. Ibrahim Abdullahi from Kwara State.
