The Minister of Works, Mr. David Umahi, has urged the South-East region to support President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027, describing the president as “God Sent” to Nigeria.

Umahi made the call on Saturday during a courtesy visit from the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and his team, who were in Ebonyi to inspect various federal projects.

Umahi asserted that President Tinubu is fair and just in ensuring that all Nigerians benefit from the dividends of democracy.

He highlighted the significant federal presence in the South-East, particularly in the form of roads and bridges, stating that the region has “never had it this good.”

“The good works that President Tinubu is doing for the southeast are not hidden, especially roads and bridges,” Umahi said. “He is someone who is fair and just in ensuring that all Nigerians benefitted from the dividends of democracy.”

The former Ebonyi governor also claimed that all governors in the South-East are in support of Tinubu, adding that the president is using him to “better the lot of the southeast.”

He advised people of the region to “re-engage” politically, stating that the presidency cannot be achieved by sentiment alone.

“We have to support other regions, and at the time of God, nobody will stop it,” he said, before jokingly adding, “and who knows, you know, whether that time it will be me.”

Umahi also pointed to improved economic indicators under the Tinubu administration as proof of his success.

He cited a drop in inflation to 21.8% and a foreign reserve of over $40 billion, noting that international bodies and figures like Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala have praised the president’s reforms.

He contrasted the current administration’s efforts with his experience as a former governor, stating, “I didn’t witness anything like Federal presence here.”

He highlighted a specific 123.6-kilometer road project passing through Ebonyi and extending to Benue, which costs N456 billion, as a clear sign that “Tinubu is working.”
