Text: Lamentation 3 vs 55 – 58: “I called on your name, O LORD, from the lowest pit. You have heard my voice: “Do not hide Your ear from my sighing, from my cry for help. You drew near on the day I called on You, And said, “Do not fear!” O Lord, You have pleaded the case for my soul; You have redeemed my life“.

  • Prayer…After this meeting, you will say the Lord has heard my prayers in the name of Jesus.
  •  The Lord will take up your case today in the name of Jesus.
  • The Lord will redeem you from any deep distress you may be in  today in the name of Jesus

…..the lowest pit here in vs. 55 can be said to be the deepest distress, a man could be in when all hope is gone,  all help failed. But, the prophet made us know that in spite of the deep distress we may be experiencing that we can call a siege, there is still a God to go to, and call upon for deliverance out of the siege or deep distress.

In Vs. 56…we can see a sense of boldness when the prophet said ….You have heard my voice….This is the kind of boldness we must exercise when we go to God in deep distress when we are under a siege. Hebrew 4 vs 16: Let us, therefore, come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. The boldness is not pride or arrogance. It is the confidence we have in God as His children, the audacity, the assurance that when we come to Him in faith He hears us, He answers us.

From vs 57 – 58…..we can see the sense of respite, relief, and comfort after calling upon God. The dictionary defines siege as a military operation in which troops or the police surround a place and cut off all access … to prevent the supply of essential goods, services, or persons to the place. This ensures that food, drugs, and weapons are depleted and the besieged people suffer and will be forced to surrender.

Looking at it in the spiritual context or in the life of a person, a siege is a terrible thing. It is anything that is affecting your well-being. Anything causing you deep sorrow,  great pain, anguish, and deep distress.  When you are so troubled, so full of unending problems, suffering from one sickness to the other.

When you are having extreme anxiety and fear. When you are in a very difficult situation that is difficult to get out of. When you are in desperate need, you are in serious lack.

A siege to explain further is whenever there is a persistent attack on a person with all kinds of satanic weapons ranging from incessant job losses, financial problems, discouragements, evil dreams, and lack of help. It is anything limiting your speed in life, hindering your progress in life.  Any barricade barricading God’s promises from coming to pass in your life.

Anything that preserves and enhances the 3 manifold ministries of the devil …kill, steal and destroy … in your life is a siege. PRAYER….Hear this ..if you are under any kind of siege as mentioned, the Lord will deliver you today in the name of Jesus. Sin is a major cause of siege we must take cognizance of or give attention to. Jeremiah  5 vs 25: Your iniquities have turned these things away, And your sins have withheld good from you.

As siege will not allow the supply of essential goods, drugs, services, weapons, and persons into a besieged place so also sin can hinder or stop good things from happening in one’s life. The good news is in 1 John 1 vs 9:  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Prayer….Father forgive me of any sin that has allowed the enemies to get into the territory of my life, of my home thereby causing a siege in the name of Jesus.

Scriptural Example….2 Kings 6 vs 24 – 29,  2 Kings 7 vs 1 & 18:  King Benhadad of Syria besieged Samaria thereby causing famine, hunger, sickness, lack, and high cost of food items, scarcity of food and commodities. Nothing beneficial, nothing good, was coming into the city. No trading nor economic activities took place. It was a deep distress moment for the people. But the good news came in Chapter 7 of  2 Kings as the Lord in His kindness put an end to the siege and caused a sudden abundance of food, relief, and comfort unto the people.

When you are so troubled

When you are in a cocktail of problems…several problems

When you are suffering, you are in desperate need

When you are having extreme anxiety, constant fear

When you are in a very difficult situation that is defying solutions.

When you are experiencing gradual degradation, loss of self-respect, shame, humiliation, and unending destructive habits called addiction.

When you no longer have a passion for prayers; reading the bible is not appealing to you any longer, fasting is not as current as currency with you, and going to the house of God to fellowship with other believers is not appealing to you again.

When there is frustration and confusion in your life. When your laughter is scarce and your weeping is common. When if you are in business, your business is lacking patronage. Stagnation is just so visible in all aspects of your life. If you are experiencing any of the mentioned in your life, then you are under siege and you need serious help. You have to call upon God for help, victory, restoration, and turn-around.

Listen!  That siege shall be over in your life, and in your home in the name of Jesus.
