In the heart of Nigerian political turmoil, we find Bob Dee, a man profoundly weighed down by the heavy cloak of regret that wraps around him like a shroud. Bob Dee was a strong political ally of the current occupant of Aso Rock, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during the fight against the annulment of the June 12 election, which the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola reportedly won. Bod Dee and PBAT were both fighters for the nascent democratic norm in the country during the dark days of Sanni Abacha and Ibrahim Babangida regimes. While the former was cloaked in fleeting crumps from politicians and militricians, the latter was strategic in its visionary political ambition, and it paid off!

Dele’s single story is not just one of personal misfortune but also a reflection of the broader dilemmas faced by most humans who play the complex and selfish game of politics. Bob is grappling with the painful consequences of what he perceives as a catastrophic miscalculation in his political affiliations and strategies—a blunder that haunts him at every turn. Bob Dee’s defunct Ovation magazine celebrated the chronic corruption and pillage of Nigeria during the immediate past military regimes.

As the dust settles on electoral contests, Bob’s selfish thoughts and impatience dwell not just on missed opportunities but also on the strategic political missteps that led him to the brink of political obscurity. Rather than aligning himself with the winning team in the political landscape, Bob has found himself clinging desperately to the past. Dele’s decision to support the losing cause, his stomach infrastructure, and his engagement in a futile ‘boyboy’ campaign for Atiku are choices Bob struggles to comprehend. Instead of rallying behind a candidate who embodies hope and progress, he shamelessly redirects his energy toward attacking PBAT—a figure whose unwavering focus on a visionary mission to rescue Nigeria from its myriad challenges stands in stark contrast to Bob’s own misaligned efforts.

Bob’s fixation on disparaging PBAT comes off as a desperate attempt to mask his insecurities and political failures. As VDM aptly cautions, ‘you go learn the hard way,’ meaning that the path of self-deception often leads to harsh lessons. The political arena is mesmerizingly unforgiving, and those who fail to recognize the shifting tides will inevitably face the consequences of their choices. While Bob Dee squanders his time indulging in petty grievances, the true architects of change, like PBAT, relentlessly work toward a better future, showcasing the stark divide between ambition laced with purpose and the bitterness of regretful missteps.

In this narrative of Bob Dee, we witness not just a man wrestling with his decisions but also a poignant reminder of the importance of strategic foresight in the unpredictable world of Nigerian politics. As the quest for power and influence continues, Bob Dee must confront the hard truths of his journey—if he ever hopes to redeem his political misadventures and controversial legacy.
