The ADC Dispute: A Courtroom Battle, Not a Street Fight, By Sunday Wale Adeniran

It is not a social media matter, it is a matter that has been taken to a court.

The real owners of ADC are aggrieved that some big men settled a few leaders of the party and those ones handed over the party to them without their consent and inclusion in the transaction.

The aggrieved owners that include the only ADC man who won a house of reps seat in Kogi state, Bejide and who therefore was the national leader of the party being the ADC member that holds the highest political office in Nigeria approached the court which is the right thing to do.

INEC only said that until the outcome of the court process, it will not recognize either the real owners or the hijackers.

It is not something anyone should start throwing stones or breaking bottles over.

President Akanbi Adekunle Bola Ahmed Olanbiwonninu Ayanfe-Eledumare Tinubu did not ask them to hijack a party instead of rolling up their sleeves and form a new one like he and Buhari did.

He did not ask them to pay the driver who only held the key but not the car owner who holds the documents (according to Adeniyi Abass Akinbile). Or think that they’ve bought a family land after paying only the first child without the consent of other children and family members (according to Nnenna Agbai).

He did not ask the real owners to fight for their legit heritage. Those ones only felt that they should not be deprived of their sweat which is a natural reaction if you ask me.

He did not ask INEC to say that no faction will be recognized until the court decides. INEC did what is right to do given the situation at hand.

If a former two term vice president, a former three term senate president, several retired governors, senators, honourables, ministers and other expired politicians do not know how to form a political party with the enormous resources in their vault or better still do not know the proper way to hijack an existing party, it is lame and unreasonable to blame a man who formed ACN after pulling out of AD and then dissolved ACN to form APC against the then monstrous PDP.

Insulting people from now till May 29, 2027 when Tinubu will be sworn in the second time to complete the southern Nigeria two terms will not change anything. It will only make you sleep and wake up every day in bitterness, frustration, anger and sadness which do you no good.

El-Rufai once said that they have a backup party and I think that they should all move to that backup party but they have to ensure that it is yet not another failed hijack and if they are the ones behind the formation of NDC, I wish them what their efforts can bring them politically.

But if it’s not their child, they should hijack it the proper way.
