Suspected Herdsmen Kill Mother, Three Sons in Fresh Benue Attack

A late-night assault in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State has reportedly claimed the lives of four members of the same family.

Residents said the attack happened around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Imande Dem settlement, located along Gbajimba Road in Uvir Council Ward, leaving the community in mourning.

According to local sources, suspected armed herdsmen invaded the area while people were asleep and targeted a household. A woman, Mrs. Utsuwa Chicha, and her three sons were killed during the нападение.

A young boy from the family survived but suffered gunshot wounds.

He was reportedly rushed to a hospital, where doctors carried out emergency surgery to extract bullets from his body.

Community members also revealed that the woman’s husband had been killed in an earlier incident, leaving the family already vulnerable before this latest tragedy.

The victims’ bodies were later evacuated through a combined effort by security operatives and residents, while the injured child remains under medical care.

This latest violence adds to a series of recurring attacks in Guma, where suspected armed herders have continued to strike, deepening anxiety among locals.
