Former Governor of Abia State, now Senate Chief Whip, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has alerted the nation to an alleged plot to sabotage the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari

Kalu, from Abia North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, made this known on Channels Television on Monday 12 April 2021.

He expressed serious concerns about the prevailing insecurity problem that has driven the entire country on edge.

The former Abia Governor was unhappy with the Federal Government’s lackadasical response to the deplorable security situation.

He urged the government at the centre to collaborate more with the state governors to quench the fire of insecurity before it consumes the country.

“Anywhere you have no police to police the society, it means the society is failed,” Kalu said, “because the major job of a government is to protect lives and properties of the citizens. Once that kind of aspect fails, we are in trouble,

“I believe there is sabotage to the Presidency of Muhammadu Buhari. A lot of sabotage, things are on duty to sabotage him, the society.

“The Federal Government should cooperate with the state governments. We have done well as a party in many areas but security is key and we need to address this issue, come together.”

Kalu, tasked President Buhari to urgently convoke a security summit that would involve the Service Chiefs, Governors, selected ex-governors and former military personnel, aimed at fashioning enduring solutions to the myriad security challenges facing the nation.

The Senate Chief Whip also spoke on the 2023 presidential calculations saying that it was now expedient for Nigeria to look southwards in choosing its next President.

Though he did not harp strongly and directly on Igbo Presidency, he insisted that in the name of equity, justice and fairness, the political parties should look towards the South East and choose a qualified Nigerian from the region to lead the country.

This, he said, might just be the much sought solution Nigeria needed to permanently heal the wounds of the civil war as it would stimulate full integration and strengthen national unity.
