For the past three years, very close to the beginning of each examination, Samuel Oyedokun organises a tutorial class for Year I students to get them prepared for a compulsory course in Mathematics, MTS 102 (Introductory Calculus) .

As a result of the resounding success achieved by those who attended the previous editions of Marathon Revision Classes , the 2025 edition attracted a large number of students who were going to sit for the examination for the first time and a few others who had to retake it.

Samuel, the founder of the BOOTCLASS and his collaborators spent hours tutoring and guiding the students who attended the classes.

For the 2025 edition, Samuel and his friends extended the revision class to cover MTS 316 (Engineering Mathematics II).

It was also remarkably successful.

Hear Samuel on the 2025 edition: “It was another great opportunity to make a positive impact in academia. At the 4th Edition of the MRC 4.0 organized by @thebootclass, I had the privilege of walking the Year One students at Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) through MTS 102 (Introductory Calculus) as they prepared for their exams. It was tough, no doubt—physically demanding, mentally stretching, but at the same time, very fulfilling.

“Beyond the exegesis, my focus was on helping them discover their maths personality, understanding the way they learn best, and giving them the confidence to trust their own process.”

“I had the privilege of facilitating a 12-hour Marathon Revision Tutorial session on MTS 316 (Engineering Mathematics II) for the 300-level students at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) as they prepared for their upcoming tests and examinations”.

“It was a demanding (beacuse the class lasted 16-hours instead of 12 hours) session but I feel fulfilled all the same. All through the session of the tutorial, I had to break down complex concepts like Fourier Series, the Sturm Louiville System, PDEs, and Heat, Wave and Laplace Equations Equations in a practical and engaging manner”.

“As far as I am concerned, this is yet another effort in my commitment to helping students find their math personality. And also, at Boot Class, our mission remains clear: to equip students with the clarity, confidence, and competence they need to achieve exceptional academic and personal excellence.

The Boot Class is the academic brand that a group of friends and I run on the campus at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA). Due to our deep commitment to fostering excellent academic performance among our students, we decided to organize an intensive revision session tagged “Marathon Revision Class” earlier this year.

The aim of this initiative was to provide targeted support to freshers and sophomores as they prepare for their exams. Maybe that was one of the boldest moves I and the entire team made this year. Sure, I’ve organized tutorial sessions before, but nothing quite like the Marathon Revision Classes. Each class stretched for about 6 to 8 hours, and I can vividly remember the last session I anchored before my final paper as a junior went on for 11 hours.

The interesting thing is that when I first pitched the idea to the team, most of them were skeptical—honestly, and I wasn’t sure we could pull it off either. But with proper planning, unwavering dedication, and a team that kept each other motivated, we managed to execute MRC 1.0 and 2.0 debt-free, and it was an absolute success.
