Nigerian-born British singer Sade Adu, born Helen Folasade Adu, has been nominated once again for induction into the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, marking her second chance at the prestigious honour.
The 67-year-old Grammy winner, famed for her rich contralto voice and timeless tracks such as “Smooth Operator” and “The Sweetest Taboo,” is among a diverse group of 17 artists considered this year.

Eligibility for induction requires that an artist’s first commercial recording was released at least 25 years ago. Over 1,200 industry professionals, historians, and musicians will vote to determine the 2026 inductees, with winners announced in April and formally inducted later in the year.
Sade, who was first nominated in 2024, became the first Nigerian-born artist to win a Grammy Award in 1986. She is widely regarded as one of the most successful British female artists, celebrated for her enduring global influence on music.
