Praytell how will this happen? Will it be before or after he has participated in traditional rites, bowed before and sworn allegiance to local gods, etc.? How do you mix light with darkness? Do you not know what holiness means. I fear for “Christians” these days who know nothing of holiness and consecration and think you can join Christ with belial “for the glory of God”. If you read this article and can’t see what’s wrong with this story, then what you have is not Christ/Christianity but a false religion with a form of godliness but totally powerless to save and transform. This is why Nigeria with all its churches and “christians” is in this ever-growing rot and cesspool of wickedness.

I’m still praying this is fake news…

PS you have taken Rev 11:15out of context. First this isn’t referring to this age but the new heavens and earth and (second) definitely not by such unholy means.

OJ, I like your stand. For a man who is alleged to have had the call of God come upon his life to become a Pastor and has been pastoring since 1992, to reject the call when faced with the choice of shepherding God’s flock and becoming a traditional king, raises questions.

Many who profess to be Christians are just religionists. The choices we make shows on whose side we are. The quotation below might sound harsh and judgmental but it’s from the Lord.

Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:63)

I am a respecter of tradition but the kind of problems that Nigeria is facing presently,do you think that mere tradition can change it or we need to begin to put square pegs in leadership roles to fit into square holes caused by the misguided and misfit that are in leadership parading our society from village to local to State and Federal level. I’m afraid that the America and Western Countries that we all want to Jaapaa to are more enlightened than what you are saying right now. Thank you.

The Bible is not against a man of GOD becoming an Oba, after all David was a king and at the same time a Prophet of GOD.
Nothing is wrong, it depends on the individuals, what he intends to accomplish as an Oba, a Pastor or a Prophet, rulling his people with the fear of GOD and righteousness and Godly mindedness.
Forget about those Obas who misbehave and doing what they are not supposed to do.
We have some of them like that in those historical days too.

What a thought! What is Yoruba tradition? Something precious, valuable, of culture, of identity, of historical experience and significance PASSED DOWN…Culture and the experience of traditions change over time. The key question is what happens to the values that they preserve? Certain age long values and approved virtues of life that constitute the identity of a people and represent their shared ideology and philosophy of the world and its continuing dynamics of living phenomena are preserved as long as they bear relevance, and then as such transmitted. Everything is prone to change. Even identities change.
Traditional stools and monarchies in our African setting have evolved to become the repository of these cultural values, virtues and belief systems of a people by which they identify. These identities without doubt are prone to change. They may become more robust and entrenched and wherever they are found fickle and facetious, they are changed or jettisoned. As long as we have the repositories intact, the new occupiers of this custodial stools bear the moral responsibility to preserve and secure their generations and their legacy.
The story under reference, speaks of a clergyman preferring the conferment of royalty upon himself and above the call as a servant of God. Without respecting much his personality and right to privacy, we here are being judgmental and quick to conclude on him without having give him the benefit of the doubt and necessarily considering that thought that we might not have a full picture of this purported event, to which clarity can only come when the Soun himself is given a chance to respond to all the insinuations and suggestions made when that news broke.
Pastor Ghandi is entitled to an interview where his intentions are clearly and fully disclosed. He needs to.make it to a point of duty to stand up to this story to confirm it or otherwise and equally announce whether or not he is following Jehovah’s leading in this.matter at all.

Because you cannot serve 2 masters; you cannot mix light with darkness nor can you join Christ with belial “for the glory of God”. If you knew anything of the holiness of God, then you would have understood what the original commenter meant by quoting Luke 9:62. We’re a generation that likes to eat out cake and have it, yet from the OT to the NT, God always asks the same of us: choose you this day… That people think that God would achieve His purposes for His Kingdom through such unholy means says how little they know of Him and His ways.

Believe it or not, there are kings and traditional rulers who are still in faith and also standing firm for Jesus. If we (Christians) continue to run away from these responsiblities evil will continue in the land. I want to submit that we need people like Joseph, Daniel, Esther, Deborah, David etc in positions of leadership in time like this. There is nothing bad or evil in a man of God becoming a king.

Who says our tradition is evil????? The white people that brought us pagan Christianity and not even the real Christianity? Go to Victoria Gardens in London and you will find the temple they built for Aje, the spirit of wealth. The same way there are fake pastors and imams there may be fake and wicked Ifa priests. There are fakes everywhere. How is our tradition evil and why can’t we do both our tradition and serve God. Before David ran after the soldiers that took his family in the Battle st Ziglag, he enquirer of the Lord thru the Ephod. Do you know what the ephod is? Ifa oracle! Which Yorubas believe to be the voice of Olodumare (God). When the deciles wanted to know who they should add after losing a disciple to death, the Bible says they casted lot. What is lots? Opele. I think we all should really study and under our traditional beliefs. We can serve God via both. Before Christianity, trad beliefs was all out forefathers had and it worked for them. We claim to be Christians but attend church on Sunday “Sun day” to worship the Roman Gods when God clearly instructed us to worship him on the Sabbath, the 7th day of the week not Sunday, the first day of the week. Please let only God be the only judge of who is really worshiping Him.

Please don’t confuse tradition and culture with idol worship and traditional religion. Christianity is compatible with tradition and culture but not with idol worship and traditional religion or any other religion for that matter.

As a Pastor/Oba, will he say “no” to when the Ifa priests come to him to pay for/approve sacrifices to idols in the town? He doesn’t have to take part in those rituals to be complicite when he’ll be the CEO approving them.

Please keep quiet. It’s because of all this over righteousness that we gradually left the governance and the leadership of this country to people of other religions. Now that we are been marginalize, terrorized and killed we are shouting to God to deliver us when we did not even do what we needed to do in the first place. If fellow christians that had had the vision of politics were encouraged probably the country may not be this bad. It’s in the same church they keep preaching that it is not good to enter into politics or be a traditional ruler and it became a no go area. Every key position in this country are occupied by people of other religions. Few that venture to be different are always castigated. Please stop all these pessimism. We will live in this world before the next. Holding a traditional title does not amount to renouncing one’s faith. I wish the man divine grace from God to rule and win more souls for Christ.

Nigeria’s problem is not because there are no Christians in positions of authority – the real problem is they compromise their faith and join in the plunder around them. I’ve seen it first hand. If only 10% of Nigerian Christians take their Christian ethics to their places of work, I dare say Nigeria will be the best country in the world. The Pastor can rule Ogbomoso with the wisdom of Solomon but he will not be able to stop the rituals to other gods that go well against his Christian calling. And those rituals will be done in the Oba’s name.

Well said my sister, that’s the problem we christains have. I was at a shop to get provision one day in the same town this man will soon become king, it was close to election, you can imagine the shop owner who happens to be a woman telling me that good christains shouldn’t venture into politics. According to her, heaven was a christain final destination, so a christain has no biz with politics. It’s this kind of mindset that has made Muslims to dominate this country when the population is split almost evenly btw christainity n Islam. He who has the power calls the shot. Whether we like it or not, religion cannot be separated from politics. Try to become the United States If you are not a christain and see if u will succeed or even the prime minister of Britain. The queen of England is the head of state and same time the head of church of England. Are we more civilized than these countries or are we trying to be more catholic than the pope.

I’m hoping this is fake news and waiting for this pastor to dispel these rumours…

PS Pls let’s not take Rev 11:15 of context. First this isn’t referring to this age but the new heavens and earth and (second) even at that, God will never achieve his purposes by such unholy means.

In your narrow mindedness assuming the position of the queen of England has no evil connotations but been a soun of Ogbomosho is devilish and unholy.

Pastor Olaoye becoming a King is a promotion. Kings and Queens are recognised in the Bible. He will bring his vast knowledge of the word of God into bearing when ruling in his Kingdom – Ogbomoso Land. The RCCG G. O. is free to go and bless him during his installation. May God Almighty bless his reign In Jesus Name.

Why do we revere and make other foreign monarchies as clean, but despise our own monarchies as dirty? The reason is because, those countries have polished theirs with respectable people who changed their outlook and made it acceptable to all. The caliber of Obas, Ezes and Emirs that are coming up should make every effort to dispel some of these old assumptions that people have about these titles and transform them into world class monarchies. If a Physician, Professor and other educated professionals can mount the stool of their forefathers, why not a Pastor that can help bring light and break the strongholds to those communities. If no one has a problem with those aiming to hold the highest office in the land, then, you should have no problem with a Pastor called to serve his people at the highest office of its kingdom. May your reign, Oba-elect Pastor Ghandi, bring favour, goodness and prosperity to your kingdom. Amen

No matter what you believe or say IT IS ENTIRELY YOUR OPINION. it’s part of the madness of colonisation and the desecration of our religions that generations African children will ridicule their own. The Queen of England son was getting married and many CHRISTIANS here were tapping into ‘Megan markhle blessings’. The sheer size of the hypocrisy.

God is not man. HE moves in mysterious ways, so no man can map His ways.
What if the King was converted when he’s already ascended the throne of his forefathers? Would that be ok?
It is only God who has answers to life, I’ll therefore suggest people be patient and genuinely pray for the king elect’s success and progress for the Ogbomoso people in general during his reign.
Religion (Christian/traditional/Islamic, etc. with its rules and regulations), does not make a man. Living true in the agape love of God towards other people one interacts with, does, irrespective of your religion.

That someone is a Christian does not mean he cannot be a king, the Bible talks about royal priest hood ,in order words , a king and a priest, Judah belongs to such,it all depends on individual .If I’m in his shoe, I will show my interest that I wish to be a king but at the same time let them know that I cannot participate in fetishism. IF THEY AGREE GOOD IF NOT I WALK AWAY, IT IS NOT A MATTER OF DO OR DIE. NOTHING IS COMPULSORY IN LIFE. THE ONLY COMPULSORY THING TO ME IS TO MAKE HEAVEN, WHICH IS ALSO A MATTER OF CHOICE AND GRACE.

Then you renounce it base on Christianity affiliations

Not at all sir! There is No crime in that sir. But, immediately Christ bestowed on us there is glory that cannot be defined or explained by other; even some of us cannot even explain the expression of transformation that Christ mirrors in our lives for Christ in you is the hope of glory (meaning – our past re- amended, our present taking over by Lordship of Jesus Christ- meaning there must be fellowship, purpose and mandate, revelations and actualizations, divine accomplishment – mysteries of He do His things not outside His word or confined around His word and it will lost our wills for His purpose that Christ should be glorified in all we do! If the parameters of what our pastor (Pst. Olaoye) assigned to do is these above stated then glory to God; because where light entered darkness disappeared. God uses His own to change the world for better and at times it may really surpassed our understanding and righteousness- our righteousness is like the filthy rags before God and God righteousness makes us marveled and ignite light with waves of glory and empowers us to see things how God is! Very soon God will shows if his for Him or not…all we need now as brothers and sisters is to prayer for him more and more even if we seen worse befalling him; we would not lost him to devils…God has the way to change evil meant for good. To me I can’t wait to hear his testimony soon. Hallelujah!!!

I don’t see the acceptance of the throne as an error or mistake, but an opportunity to convert many lives to christ as a king that has authority over everything in the land,,, bowing down to the idols of the land is a choice,, he can give them his condition before accepting it. We have seen many obas here who are sound Christians. If i were him i will still pastor a church .

I believe the pastor understands what it takes to become Soun. Ogbomoso is a town with rich history in Yoruba race, where up to tomorrow people are still worshiping egungun, oro, ifa and the rest .
I see the post not to interest any foreign religious person, cos it is absolutely impossible to do without those in the local faith right away from the beginning.
Cos , they are the one to make the Soun.
Soun is not made in the church or mosque.

God that backed up Kings David and Josiah will back him up. Read 2Kings 23 verses 23-25 you will know that it is doable for Christians to be successful as king. Pastor King Ghandi, May you do what is right in the sight of God in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

Nothing bad in his decision, I f God want it that way, in those days of the bible, prophet anoints kings, and kings are usually children of God… we are the one that hand over the ancient thrones to the idolaters, just waking up now from slumbering to take our position, sooner the so called idolatry will be wipe off,
Not too long, we also heard of deeper life pastor who became king in ekiti state…

To me here, just like what some people said “I believe the pastor understands what it takes to become Soun?” I believe he does! And even if is an error God will have mercy on him and He will not allows him and his households to be consumed in Jesus’ name! Having said I believe the roles God wants us to play is to be light to ourselves first, our brothers primary task and to the world at large secondary task. Apparently, Lets come to think of it! Our pastor had seen the light of God- I’m sure he had which is the of Glory in him could not be contained and he had perhaps saved souls for God – which means many lives through him had an encountered with the light of God by his preaching of the Gospel – meaning enjoyed and transformed to the confined of the sons of God the ultimate desire of God need to us after we been saved and he wants the world under him – the indigenous of Ogbomoso, his father households to know the essence of God’s glory and grace available at hand in a very short period so that God will save them before is too late! Christ will not appreciates to waste His calling upon him as a vessel onto honour because His still valued to Shepard hundreds of souls and if one perhaps is missing He will leaves ninety-nine and go after the missed one soul! So, God really placed values on all of us and He would not allowed Ogbomoso not to be save for Christ; it doesn’t matter how many Churches or RCCG there before his mandates and if God is save “the needful – the elects, the soldiers” like Saul who became Paul and won more for Christ than other apostles in the past so, because inside every person God saves there is untapped hidden treasures that could domesticates the whole world in our hands for the glory of God. Praise the Lord!!! I pray even in his weakness God will be glorify and the whole Ogbomoso will sparks for light up for Christ in Jesus’ name. Amen. I believe this what God will achieved in time to come. Congratulations to our pastor Olaoye to championed this goal. God bless you and crown you grace to function in Jesus’ name. Amen

I don’t understand how it’s okay for Queen Elizabeth to be the supreme head of the Church of England but it’s not okay for Pastor G to be the Oba of Ogbomoso?
There’s something inherently wrong about the way we see ourselves as African Christians . The folks that brought the bible to us are holding on Tightly to their traditions and culture but we want to trade ours for suites and tie, fork, knives and twisted tongues.

You see, my challenge with the Church is that we have approached the salvation plan of God from a negative point of view more than the positive; can we just shift and approach God positively? We receivedJesus Christ, but did not stop been afraid of the devil. Please let’s be bold to take positions, kingdoms and territories for Christ with a positive mind; knowing that God who is the creator of heaven and earth lives in you……this consciousness sends the darkness on the run. Let’s stop being fearful! This will hinder the progress of the gospel.
